Based on the bestselling novel by master storyteller Nicholas Sparks, THE LONGEST RIDE centers on the star-crossed love affair between Luke, a former champion bull rider looking to make a comeback, and Sophia, a college student who is about to embark upon her dream job in New York City’s art world. As conflicting paths and ideals test their relationship, Sophia and Luke make an unexpected and fateful connection with Ira, whose memories of his own decades-long romance with his beloved wife deeply inspire the young couple. Spanning generations and two intertwining love stories, THE LONGEST RIDE explores the challenges and infinite rewards of enduring love.

My Thoughts:

Well, I’m finally done exams, which means I get the next 4 months off of school! I decided to start my break by seeing a movie I have wanted to see since I finished the book and holy crap… This movie was seriously so good. I’m really glad I read the book beforehand because obviously the book gives a more in depth story, but I was very impressed with the movie. My bestfriend also really enjoyed it and she didn’t read the book, so it’s not like it’s confusing or unenjoyable if you don’t read the book. Although it did cut out a lot from the book and it did make a few major changes, I think they were for the better. The movie flowed really nicely and the way the two stories came together worked a lot better the movie way than it would have the book way. tumblr_nmo4hs5WCs1tm2ekjo1_500

The actors did a fantastic job. I think the only other movie I have ever seen Britt Robertson in was The First Time with Dylan O’Brien, which is kind of just an awkward movie in itself so I couldn’t really appreciate her as an actress. This movie, however, she was awesome. She’s also amazingly pretty! Scott Eastwood is also quite the looker… I definitely think he fit the role of Luke really well. Let’s just be real here for a second. Eastwood’s abs were the real MVP of this movie. Could he get any more good looking?! Alan Alda, the man who plays Ira, also did an amazing job. I can’t even count how many times he made me tear up in this movie…

The only thing that bothered me was the beginning when Sophia and Luke first started hanging out there were some parts that were super awkward and embarrassing and that is not at all how it went down in the book. But again, I understand changes had to be made to fit it into a 1 hr 45 m movie. Even my friend agreed the beginning was a bit cheesy but then it got really good. We also cried like babies, so that’s a testament to how good the movie was. If you like Nicholas Sparks’ book to movie adaptations, you will certainly love this. I even think some men would enjoy it because of the bull riding aspect. Definitely a must see romance movie!

I’ll be back with a ton of book reviews soon!

xx
