FEBRUARY WRAP-UP & MARCH TBR!

FEBRUARY WRAP-UP!

This has been the story of my life for all of February and I swear if March continues down this road, I’m done. I will get on a plane and leave Canada as soon as humanly possible. snow-gif

BOOKS

This month I stuck to my February TBR and was able to complete most of it, which included:

  • A Feast For Crows by George R.R. Martin
  • The Wicked + The Divine, Vol. 1: The Faust Act by Kieron Gillen
  • A Dance With Dragons by George R.R. Martin (up to page 506)

Overall I’m relatively pleased that I was even able to get that much reading done. It totals roughly 1,600+ pages so even though it doesn’t seem like much, it definitely took quite a bit of time. I also had to balance reading for school, studying for 4 midterms, writing 2 papers, and all that other fun stuff… so not too shabby! However, there are also a few other things I want to wrap-up for February.

MOVIES

There are three movies that I watched this month that I was extremely pleased with. Are you surprised they are all book to movie adaptations? Probably not.

First and foremost, The DUFF! I honestly never intended on reading this book or seeing the movie simply because I felt there tumblr_nf9r9rDu2M1r6vy8ho2_r2_250were other things higher on my priority list. I also didn’t necessarily love the idea of the “designated ugly fat friend”, but SHIT. This movie was SO FUNNY. I am so extremely glad I saw it and I probably still won’t read the book because I don’t like reading books after I’ve seen the movie, but wow did I enjoy this movie. Also, Robbie Amell? Can you say SMOKIN’?! Plus he’s Canadian… so even more swoon-worthy.

Mae Whitman is also absolutely fantastic. She is soThe_Best_of_Me_poster funny and has the best expressions I think she’s probably going to be up there with Jennifer Lawrence on my list of celebrity girl crushes. She needs to be in more movies, like now.

The day after I saw The DUFF in theatres I ended up picking up The Best of Me on Blu Ray to add to my Nicholas Sparks movie collection, of course. I watched this with my mom and was pretty pleased with it. I hadn’t read this one before seeing it so I didn’t know how it was going to end. It was extremely tragic and very typical of a Nicholas Sparks movie. And although the ending tied it up nicely, I wasn’t really satisfied. The actors did a really wonderful job though so of course there were a lot of feels and I may have cried… twice.

Annnnd the third movie was, *drumroll please*, Love, Rosie. I watched this one on my tumblr_n7lgraTb9h1ql5hv8o5_250actual birthday with my bestfriend and man was it a rollercoaster of emotions! I feel like such a butt because I didn’t read this one before watching the movie either… so that’s 3 for 3… but, whatever! I still really enjoyed it and didn’t expect it to be so sad. SUCH BAD TIMING FOR EVERYTHING! But, I mean, I guess that’s life right? Sometimes things don’t happen when we want/need them to and that’s what made the movie so much more relatable. But, let’s be real, Finnick Odair and Clary Fray? This movie was going to be perfection no matter what.

TV SHOWS

tumblr_nf7fezo6Rc1so7uc5o1_500

Me at least ten times during every episode…

I didn’t even intend on including this in my wrap-up, but I started watching it on Netflix last night before bed… and what a horrible idea that was. I’m now absolutely downright obsessed with The 100. I stayed up until 2am watching it and then woke up at 9am to continue… I haven’t gone to bed at 2am in like… years. I’m usually such a grandma, but I couldn’t stop! How do you stop watching when they end every episode in a cliffhanger?! I’m so terrible with binge watching TV shows at the worst times… as if I don’t have a million papers and exams coming up.

MUSIC

And last but not least for the month of February… I have been listening to Hozier nonstop! I have had this one song stuck in my head for the last week.

MARCH TBR!

Besides finishing A Dance With Dragons I’m not going to stick to much of a schedule in March. I’ll probably just end up reading what I feel like reading. I’ve been really wanting to read contemporary recently, so maybe I’ll pick up something by Morgan Matson or Rainbow Rowell. I also don’t really have a number on how many books I want to read since I have a ton of school work to do, so we’ll see!

What did you guys read/watch/listen to this month? What do you plan on reading next month? Are you keeping up on goals and challenges for this year? Let me know in the comments!

Until next time!

JANUARY WRAP-UP & FEBRUARY TBR!

At the beginning of January I was weirdly feeling ready to go back to school and take on second semester… and then the first week happened. I feel like I was hit with a freight train. Now I’m just so… tired…

tired

This is literally what I look like in my 8am classes… Considering how much work I already have to do for school I am extremely impressed at how much I read this month. I somehow managed to finish 8 books and 6 graphic novels. I’m not going to comment on any of the books because I’m super behind in reviews so I’ll save the thoughts for those.

February TBR

Since the next few months are going to be really hectic at school with upcoming midterms and papers due, I am only going to focus on reading two books and one graphic novel. I also might not even end up finishing them since the books I’m choosing are pretty chunky. Caution! Synopses might contain spoilers for books earlier in the series!

ONE.

A Feast for Crows (ASOIF #4) by George R.R. Martin

13497Goodreads Synopsis

With A Feast for Crows, Martin delivers the long-awaited fourth volume of the landmark series that has redefined imaginative fiction and stands as a modern masterpiece in the making.

After centuries of bitter strife, the seven powers dividing the land have beaten one another into an uneasy truce. But it’s not long before the survivors, outlaws, renegades, and carrion eaters of the Seven Kingdoms gather. Now, as the human crows assemble over a banquet of ashes, daring new plots and dangerous new alliances are formed while surprising faces—some familiar, others only just appearing—emerge from an ominous twilight of past struggles and chaos to take up the challenges of the terrible times ahead. Nobles and commoners, soldiers and sorcerers, assassins and sages, are coming together to stake their fortunes…and their lives. For at a feast for crows, many are the guests—but only a few are the survivors.

TWO.

The Wicked and The Divine, Vol 1: The Faust Act by Kieron Gillen, Jamie McKelvie & Matt Wilson

Goodreads Synopsis23563247

Every ninety years, twelve gods incarnate as humans. They are loved. They are hated. In two years, they are dead. The team behind critical tongue-attractors like Young Avengers and PHONOGRAM reunite to create a world where gods are the ultimate pop stars and pop stars are the ultimate gods. But remember: just because you’re immortal, doesn’t mean you’re going to live forever.

THREE.

A Dance with Dragons (ASOIF #5) by George R.R. Martin

13541592Goodreads Synopsis

In the aftermath of a colossal battle, Daenerys Targaryen rules with her three dragons as queen of a city built on dust and death. But Daenerys has thousands of enemies, and many have set out to find her. Fleeing from Westeros with a price on his head, Tyrion Lannister, too, is making his way east–with new allies who may not be the ragtag band they seem. And in the frozen north, Jon Snow confronts creatures from beyond the Wall of ice and stone, and powerful foes from within the Night’s Watch. In a time of rising restlessness, the tides of destiny and politics lead a grand cast of outlaws and priests, soldiers and skinchangers, nobles and slaves, to the greatest dance of all.

We’ll see if I can make a dent in these by the end of February… I want to at least have them done by the new season in April!

What did you guys read this month? Was it more or less than you hoped? What’s on your February TBR?

Happy Reading!

So because I completely failed at my daily updates/any updates at all I’m going to break each day down in this post. On Monday and Friday I was downtown for those entire days and on Wednesday and Thursday I was sick. DECEMBER WRAP-UP & JANUARY TBR!

Well… I failed at December. I think I was just too excited about Christmas and being done exams and shopping for everyone that I just didn’t read. I was also kind of concerned about catching up on TV shows and other non-book related things. So back to the books I finished in December…

1. Insurgent by Veronica Roth

2. My True Love Gave to Me edited by Stephanie Perkins

3. Saga Volume 3 by Brian K. Vaughan

and I have finished half of both:

Saga Volume 4 by Brian K. Vaughan

Guardians of the Galaxy – Prelude by Dan Abnett

and I have started and am loving…

Ocean at the End of the Lane by Neil Gaiman

So all in all I didn’t get much reading done but whatever, it was the holidays! However, for whatever reason my university doesn’t start school until a week after all of my friends’ so I have the next 13 days to read my heart out with no distractions (hopefully)! That being said, I’m not going to make a January TBR because I feel like when I was making my December/Holiday TBR I wasn’t being realistic. I’m not going to do this for January. I think I’m just gonna go with flow. Maybe finish up some series, maybe not.

What are your January reading plans? Have anything specific on your TBR? Let me know in the comments!

TOP TEN TUESDAY: DEAR SANTA!

Firstly, how is TOMORROW Christmas Eve?! Like WHAT?! Where does the time even go… I could have sworn I just started this semester like, yesterday. I’m so excited for Christmas morning! Although I would love every item on my Christmas list, I’m way more excited for all of my siblings to open their gifts. Everyone in my family gives me all of their presents to wrap so I always know what everyone is getting… which kind of sucks, but is also really exciting. I know everyone is going to love everything they get which makes me so happy. Secondly, when my sister asked me to make a Christmas list this year I went directly to the Chapters Indigo website and made a 5 page Wish List… apparently that wasn’t what she meant. So because I actually did need and want some other things I cut my list of books down to, weirdly enough, ten books! Without further ado, here are the ten books I asked for for Christmas!

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by The Broke and The Bookish.

TOP TEN BOOKS I WOULDN’T MIND SANTA BRINGING

1. The Bane Chronicles by Cassandra Clare

2. Cress by Marissa Meyer

3. Dreams of Gods and Monsters by Laini Taylor

4. Four: A Divergent Collection by Veronica Roth

5. Fables Volume 1 by Bill Willingham

6. Saga Volume 3 by Brian K. Vaughan

7. Saga Volume 4 by Brian K. Vaughan

8. Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me? by Mindy Kaling

9. The Ocean at the End of the Lane by Neil Gaiman

10. Ms. Marvel Volume 1 by G. Willow Wilson

Well that’s my short and sweet Christmas wish list and I hope Santa brings me at least a few of the books I want this year! I guess I will find out in two more sleeps 🙂 Has anyone read any of these titles? What’s on your Christmas wish list this year?
